1. What Afterlife Is
Afterlife is a playful, purely symbolic entertainment experience. You earn a fictional currency called Afterlife Cash (A$), design a dream “afterlife,” and share your symbolic net worth on a leaderboard. Afterlife is not a bank, not a financial product, not gambling, and not a real-money game. A$ has no cash value, cannot be withdrawn, exchanged, or redeemed for anything of monetary worth, and confers no property or legal rights.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By signing up you confirm you meet this age requirement and that your use complies with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction.
3. Accounts
You are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for all activity under your account. Choose a unique handle (3–32 characters). We store passwords hashed and never in plaintext. You may delete your account at any time by contacting us; upon deletion we remove your personal data per our Privacy Policy.
4. Purchases & A$ Top-Ups
We offer optional A$ top-ups processed by our payment partner Stripe. Prices are shown in USD. A$ is delivered to your account on successful payment. Because A$ is a consumed digital good with no resale value, purchases are generally non-refundable; contact us if a payment fails to credit. You must be authorized to use the payment method you provide, and all applicable taxes are included in the listed price unless stated otherwise.
5. User Content
You may post content such as display names, your “afterlife” design, and tributes. You retain ownership of what you post, but by submitting it you grant Afterlife a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, display, and moderate it. Do not post unlawful, harassing, hateful, sexually explicit, infringing, or misleading content. We may remove content and suspend accounts that violate these terms.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to abuse, exploit, or attempt to disrupt the service (including scraping, reverse-engineering, automating accounts, or circumventing limits). Afterlife may not be used for any real-world financial, estate-planning, funeral, religious, or legal purpose.
7. Intellectual Property
The Afterlife name, brand, artwork, and code are owned by us or our licensors. Nothing here transfers any rights in our intellectual property to you.
8. Disclaimers
The service is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Afterlife is entertainment and is not advice of any kind.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Afterlife and its operators are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service. Our total aggregate liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the preceding 12 months, or USD $10 if you made no purchase.
10. Termination
You may stop using Afterlife at any time. We may suspend or terminate access for violation of these terms or for any operational reason, with or without notice.
11. Changes & Governing Law
We may update these terms and will post the revised version here. Continued use after changes means you accept them. These terms are governed by the laws of [JURISDICTION — TBD with counsel], without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
